Establishment of All India Muslim League (1906)

The Pakistan Movement (Tehreek-e-Pakistan) is the political struggle that was led by the All India Muslim League. The movement culminated in the successful partition of British India and the birth of Pakistan.

With the creation of Pakistan on 14 August 1947, the All India Muslim League ceased to exist as a unified party for the whole of India. It split into the Pakistan Muslim League and the Indian Union Muslim League.

After independence, the party was renamed the Pakistan Muslim League (PML). It became the dominant political party in the early years of Pakistan's history, tasked with framing the country's first constitution.

The most significant and enduring legacy of the All India Muslim League is the creation of Pakistan. It remains the only political party in the history of South Asia that successfully led a movement to create a new nation-state for a minority community.
