Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali was a key supporter of Sir Syed. His famous work 'Musaddas' (The Ebb and Flow of Islam) played a vital role in awakening the Muslim community and supporting the educational goals of Aligarh.

Sir Syed founded the 'Translation Society' in 1863 while posted at Ghazipur. Its purpose was to translate standard western works into Urdu. It was later renamed the 'Scientific Society'.

The Persian Madrasah established in Muradabad in 1859 focused on Persian, modern history, English, and Urdu. Sanskrit was later included in the school at Ghazipur.

The Nagri Resolution of April 18, 1900, issued by Lt. Governor Macdonnell, recognized the Nagri script along with Persian for official use in courts, triggering the Hindi-Urdu controversy.

Sir Syed believed that western scientific knowledge should be made available to the masses through their own language, which at the time was Urdu.

The Scientific Society began publishing the 'Aligarh Institute Gazette' in 1866. It was a bilingual journal (Urdu and English) aimed at removing misconceptions between Muslims and the British.

After being transferred from Muradabad, Sir Syed established a school in Ghazipur in 1862, which provided education in English, Arabic, Persian, Urdu, and Islamiyat.

The Nagri Resolution of 1900, which recognized the Nagri (Hindi) script for official use alongside Persian (Urdu), sparked the Hindi-Urdu controversy and caused significant unrest among the Muslim intelligentsia.

Sir Syed started the magazine Tahzib-ul-Akhlaq (Mohammedan Social Reformer) in 1870 to propagate his ideas on social reform, modernize the outlook of Muslims, and criticize conservative ways of living.

Sir Syed Ahmad Khan laid the foundation of the Scientific Society at Ghazipur in 1864 with the specific aim of translating standard English works on modern arts, sciences, and history into Urdu to make western knowledge accessible to the local population.
