This body is responsible for inquiring into the capacity or conduct of a Judge of the Supreme or High Court.

Article 182 of the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan provides the legal framework for the appointment of ad hoc judges to the Supreme Court. This mechanism allows the Chief Justice, with the approval of the President, to appoint a judge of a High Court as an ad hoc judge of the Supreme Court when there is a temporary vacancy or a need to increase the number of judges for the efficient disposal of cases.

According to Article 177 of the Constitution of Pakistan, the Chief Justice of Pakistan is appointed by the President. The President exercises this power in accordance with the constitutional procedure, which involves the recommendation of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan and subsequent confirmation by the Parliamentary Committee, ensuring a structured and transparent process for the selection of the highest judicial officer in the country.

Under the Constitution of Pakistan, the Council of Islamic Ideology is established to advise the legislature on the compatibility of laws with Islamic injunctions. The Constitution stipulates that the Council shall consist of such number of members, not being less than eight and not more than twenty, as the President may determine. These members are selected for their knowledge of Islamic law and the socio-economic needs of the country.

The 1956 Constitution officially declared Pakistan as the 'Islamic Republic of Pakistan.' This title was chosen to reflect the ideological foundation of the state, emphasizing the role of Islamic principles in the governance and legal framework of the country.
